Importer module, integrating the sniffer and the parser into Verinec.

Package verinec.importer Description

Importer Module of Verinec.

This module consists of two parts:

• The Sniffer analyses network traffic to detect existing hosts and services they are running. It does not need any access permissions to the nodes in the network, but creates an incomplete configuration based on what happened in the network during the sniffing period.
• The Parser converts Verinec configuration from existing configuration files. It needs administrator access to the machines to import from. The resulting configuration is complete and more reliable than what the sniffer can produce.

The usual workflow to import a network would be to sniff the network to find out what hosts exist on the network, find out network structure using traceroute and maybe run the port scan to see what they offer.
In a second phase, the configuration data of the hosts we are interested in can be imported using the parser.
